Why one session is never enough
Hair grows in cycles. At any time, only some of your hairs are in the active growth stage, and the laser works best on exactly those hairs.
Each session treats the hairs that are growing at that moment. The others are caught in the next sessions, which is why laser hair removal is always a course, not a single visit.
The usual plan: 6 to 8 sessions
For most people, 6 to 8 sessions give a long-lasting reduction in hair. You will usually notice finer, slower and fewer hairs after the first 2 to 3 sessions.
Sessions are spaced a few weeks apart: often around 4 weeks for the face and 6 to 8 weeks for the body. Your doctor sets the exact gap for you.
What can change the number of sessions
Hair colour and thickness: dark, coarse hair usually responds faster than fine or light hair.
Hormones: facial hair linked to hormones (for example PCOS) may need more sessions and occasional top-ups. Your doctor may also suggest a medical check.
Skin type and the area treated: our Alma Soprano Titanium uses three wavelengths, so settings can be matched to your skin and hair.
Regularity: keeping to the planned gaps between sessions gives the best result.
After your course
Most people enjoy a long-lasting reduction. A few hairs can return over time, so an occasional top-up session is normal, especially for hormonal areas.
